Epiphany

Since I didn't get the job in Abiko, I have been doing a lot of thinking. Whilst I wasn't so brash that I was depending on the job, I was really hoping that I would get it.

Part of the interview was in Japanese. Although I don't think that was why I didn't get the job, I realised that after 5 years in Japan, my level of Japanese should be much higher than it is. Part of my 'plan in Japan' was to learn Japanese and use it to look for a better job. Although the job I have at the moment isn't bad per se, there is little room to move upwards.

Unless I do something fast, I am going to get stuck in a rut. Hence why I have decided to really concentrate on studying Japanese. If I am to really get on with life here, I must learn the language to the best of my ability.

First thing to do is start using Japanese as much as possible. After all, I am living in Japan. They say that the best way to learn a language is to live in that country. I am not sure if that is true - I can easily go a week without speaking any Japanese at all.
