Autumn has arrived.

Autumn has officially arrived in Japan.  So far it has started getting noticibly colder, but still very humid.  Soon, I think I will have to start getting my winter clothes out from the back of the wardrobe.

The Japanese on the whole seem remarkably proud of the fact that Japan has four seasons.  It is amusing sometimes when you meet a Japanese person who honestly thinks that Japan is the only country to have four seasons.  When faced with the fact that, yes, most countries in fact have four seasons, it really takes them by surprise.

It's odd that this isn't the only area where many Japanese people think they are unique.  In many ways, the United Kingdom and Japan are very similar.  Both are island nations; our monarchies fulfil much the same role.  Even more mundanely, we both drive on the left hand side of the road, yet that can still lead to disbelief.
